Tariq Junaid is a seasoned political research and development expert with over 25 years of experience spanning government, non-governmental, and international organizations. He is the Founder and Executive Director of the Institute for Public Opinion Research (IPOR), one of Pakistan's leading firms in political and social research. Under his leadership, IPOR has conducted nationwide public opinion surveys, baseline and endline studies, impact evaluations, and strategic communication assessments for esteemed clients including IRI, USAID, DFID, ADB, UN agencies, AKDN, and provincial governments. His areas of expertise include electoral processes, voter education, campaign and media strategy, monitoring and evaluation, political party strengthening, and public policy analysis. Tariq has also served as Program Manager at the International Republican Institute (IRI), where he managed national-level democracy and governance programs, including election-related civic education and voter mobilization initiatives.

Academically, Tariq holds dual master's degrees—one in Mass Communication from the University of the Punjab, and the other in Development Studies from the Institute of Social Studies (ISS), The Netherlands. He further honed his leadership and strategic planning skills through executive education at the Harvard Kennedy School. His research leadership has been instrumental in shaping evidence-based programming across Pakistan and the wider region. A member of ESOMAR, he upholds the highest global standards in research ethics and data integrity. Known for his analytical rigor, cross-cultural communication, and programmatic leadership, Tariq Junaid continues to contribute meaningfully to democratic development, civic engagement, and governance reform initiatives across South & Central Asia
